William the Baron Jenney
William the Baron Jenney (1832 - 1907) was an architect and American engineer, former student of the Central School of Arts and Manufactures (Central École Paris) in Paris of 1853 to 1856. Taking an active part in the rebuilding of Chicago after the large fire of October 8th, 1871, it developed the techniques at it steel construction of the first skyscrapers of the École of Chicago. He is in particular the architect of the Home Insurance Building , considered as the first skyscraper.

- First Leiter Building, Chicago, 1879: floor of wood on cast iron columns, stone pillars in frontages without structural role and carrying only their own weight.
- Home Insurance Building, Chicago, 1885: base out of granite, beams of cast iron, wrought iron elements; steel beams starting from the seventh stage.
