William Yarrell

William Yarrell , born the June 3rd 1784 with London and dead on September 1st 1856 with Great Yarmouth in the Norfolk, is a naturalist and British bookseller .

Yarrell is mainly known as author of The History off British Fishes (in two volumes, 1836) and of The History off British Birds (in two volumes, 1843). This last work was, for British generations of ornithologists, a reference.

His/her father is a stockbroker and William Yarrell succeeds to him the head of her business. It had the reputation to be the best gunner of any London but also to be an excellent naturalist.

In 1825, he becomes member of the Société linnéenne of London where he ensures the role of treasurer and takes an active part in the publication of the company: Transactions off the Linnean Society off London . It is also one of the creative members of the zoological Company of London.

A monument with its memory was set up with the church St James of Piccadilly (London).

Yarrell discovered a great number of species of birds.
