William Saunders

William Saunders is a Agronome, a Entomologiste and a Canadian Pharmacien , born the June 16th 1836 with Devonshire and dead the September 13rd 1914 with London.
Its family emigrates with the Canada whereas William Saunders at twelve years. In the years which follow its arrival, it is formed with rudiments of chemistry and becomes general storekeeper with London. Its trade becomes soon prosperous and the Saunders young person discovers botany and entomology, in particular by carrying out collections of the specimens of the surroundings of the city. He buys a farm what enables him to carry out experiments on the plants and the insects. Its interest for chemistry and botany, the conduit to be worked in a manufacture of production of matter drawn from the plants.
He then becomes medical matter professor at the university of the west of the Ontario of London. He is the founder president of the School of pharmacy of Ontario.
With Charles James Stewart Bethune (1838-1932), it founds the Société of entomology of Canada in 1863 and the Canadian Entomologist in 1868. It directs this newspaper of 1873 to 1886. He is an active member of the American Pharmaceutical Society which he directs in 1877 - 1878. He is member also of the American Association for the Advancement off Science.
He publishes Insects Injurious to Fruits in 1883 (republished in 1892). He moves much in America where he collects many Insecte S of which Lépidoptère S. He raises many caterpillars and observes their development.
After having visited many research stations in the United States, he becomes the first director of the experimental Farm of 1886 with 1901. He receives two off Doctorat Laws honorary, the first in Queen' S University in 1896 and the second with the Université of Toronto in 1904.
He is married with Sara Agne Robinson and has at least five wire of which the ornithologist and naturalist William Edwin Saunders (1861-1943).
