William Price (Wire)

William Price (August 30th 1867 with Talca, Chile - October 2nd 1924 with Kénogami, Quebec) was a wood merchant, industrialist and politician Québécois.

Grandson of William Price, it takes in 1886 the changing of his uncles William Evan Price, David Edward Price and Evan John Price in the family company, Price Brothers and Company. In 1889, he becomes the president and owner about it. He modifies the company deeply and develops paper industry by in particular buying the pulp mill of Jonquière and product from this one paperboard and newspaper. This one is mainly exported in the United States. In 1912, it founds the town of Kénogami, in which remains the majority of the workers of the factory that it builds at the same place.

Basically imperialist, it establishes two companies for the Guerre of Boers and takes part in the construction of the military base of Valcartier in Quebec during the First World War, which is worth to him to obtain the honorary rank of lieutenant-colonel in 1914 and to be made knight in January 1915, which authorizes it to use the prefix " sir".

He is appointed preserving of Quebec-West to the House of Commons, with Ottawa, of 1908 to 1911.

In 1924, he dies during an inspection of his factory of Kénogami, whereas a landslide involves it in the Saguenay river.
