William Pitt the Old one

William Pitt Old the (November 15th 1708 - May 11th 1778), 1st count de Chatham, is a statesman whig Britannique which was made famous as a Minister for the War of Great Britain during the Guerre Seven Year old and became thereafter Prime Minister of 1766 with 1768. The organizer of the invasion of Canada

The British celebrate it to have organized the invasion of Canada. On the other hand, this victory will be of short duration and the British will be beaten in America by the Americans and the French hardly 15 years later. What will be noted with the Traité of Paris of 1783. William Howe, which was with James Wolfe in Quebec, and which climbed the plains of Abraham before him will be the general who will lose in front of George Washington and Lafayette.

Consequence of Saratoga in 1777

William Pitt the elder one dies in full British Parliament when he learns that France enters in war on the American side. Ironically, it is William Pitt Sr who had organized the invasion of Quebec in 1759. The death of William Pitt Sr is the object of a famous painting. (Pitt does not die immediately but it will never recover from the faintness which embanked it in full transfer of the Parliament during a discussion on France and its entry in the war)
