William Oakes
William Oakes is a American Botaniste , born on July 1st 1799 and dead the July 31st 1848.
It enters to Harvard in 1816 and starts to be interested in the Natural history under the direction of William Dandridge Peck (1763-1822). After having obtained its diploma in 1820, Oakes studies the right during three years. In 1824, it settles with Ipswich in the Massachusetts and starts to exert. A few years later, it gives up the right to be devoted to the study of the Natural history, in particular the fauna and the flora of the New England. In 1842, one requires of him to make a study of the Flore White Mountains (New Hampshire) and it then devotes all its energy to this project. In 1848, it falls from a ferry making the connection between Boston and East Boston and drowns.
