William Henry Fitton
William Henry Fitton (January 1780 - May 13rd 1861) is a British geologist , of Irish origin .
Fitton was born with Dublin and studies with the Trinity College of this city. It receives its diploma in 1798. At that time it starts to be interested in geology and begins a collection from Fossile S. It studies medicine and settles with Edinburgh where it follows the courses of Robert Jameson. Consequently its interest in natural history, and more especially in geology, increases. It goes to London in 1809 or it studies the Médecine and the Chimie. In 1811 it off presents to the Geological Society London a description of the geological structures of the surroundings of Dublin as well as certain rare minerals Irish. It practices medicine with Northampton in 1812, which occupies most of its time during a few years. It is allowed with the Université of Cambridge in 1816.
In 1820, it Marie with a woman of an easy social environment and settles in London to devote itself to geology. He is elected member of the Royal Society in 1815 and becomes off president of the Geological Society London (1827 - 1829). He writes several tests on progress of geology and has Geological Sketch off the Vicinity off Hastings : a draft of the geology of the surroundings of Hastings in 1833. It receives the Médaille Wollaston in 1852.
