William Goldman , born the August 12th 1931, is a writer, scenario writer and American playwright . It received twice a Oscar for its Scénario S.

Biography

William Goldman was born in a Jewish family from Highland Park, suburbs of Chicago in the Illinois. He is the brother of the scenario writer James Goldman, deceased in 1998.

William Goldman published five novels and writes three parts played with Broadway before writing scenarios, of which several starting from its novels, like Marathon Man . In the Years 1980, it wrote several books of memories on its professional life in Broadway and Hollywood (of which one where it made the remark that in Hollywood “nobody knows anything”), and wrote new novels. The adaptation to the screen of its novel The Princess Bride marked its return to the writing of scenario. It is often called with the rescue like Script doctor (council for scenario) without being carried with the credits, for projects in difficulty.

Goldman gained two Oscars: one for the original screenplay of Butch Cassidy and Kid and the other for the scenario adapted for the film the Men of the president .

In 1988, he was member of the jury to the Cannes festival.

He was married until his divorce in 1991.
