William Golding was a British writer pertaining to the current postmodernist. He was born the September 19th 1911 in Cornouailles and died the June 19th 1993. He obtained the Nobel Prize of literature in 1983.

Wire of teacher, he attends the school of Marlborough and continues his studies in Oxford where he obtains his diploma of English literature. He works then some time in a small theater as an author, actor and a producer. He becomes professor of English and philosophy with Salisbury in 1939. Married in 1939, it is mobilized in 1940 in the navy and takes part in the unloading on the French coasts. It takes again its station with Salisbury of 1945 to 1962, date on which it is withdrawn in the countryside in the surroundings of Salisbury to devote itself to its literary work.

Its Romance S often treated evil, opposition between the instinctive cruelty of the man and the civilizing influence of the reason.

It is in particular outstanding in Its Majesty of the flies , its first novel (1954) and its most known book.
