William Gagnon

The Servant of God William Gagnon , born and baptized the May 16th 1905 in Dover, New Hampshire, the United States, parents Canadian-French. Migrating with its family in New England and with the Quebec, it had during its youth to take care of the others.

Its vocationnelle research was sealed the November 20th 1932 by its first profession within the Hospital Order of Midsummer's Day of God, in Montreal, in Canada.

After having occupied various functions, its dream missionary was really concretized, when it arrived with two Canadian fellow-members at the Mission of Bùi-Chu, in the North of the Vietnam, on January 18th, 1952.

During 17 years, its apostolic action concentrated on the establishment of the Order in Vietnam, on the care to exempt to the thousands of refugees. He wanted to grant his life to the rate/rhythm of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, under the protective glance of the Virgin Mary.

Exhausted to be itself given without counting, the William Brother died in Saigon, V.N., on February 28th, 1972, in odor of holiness.

Since, it was entitled to a Lawsuit diocesan in Montreal in 2000 (including the Investigation diocésaine of Xuân-Lôc, in Vietnam, carried out in 1999). The whole was approved on November 30th, 2001 in Rome, as Cause Diocese of Montreal.

In October 2007, the general Postulation of the Hospital Order gave to the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints the Positio (file) of the Brother William Gagnon, o.h. in order to studied the heroic practice of the virtues in the life of the Servant of God. This study proves to be necessary to lead the case to the title of worthy.
