William Froude
William Froude (November 28th 1810 - May 4th 1879) was a Engineer, hydrodynamician and naval Architecte British. It is the frêre Historien James Anthony Froude.
Born in Dartington, in the Devon, Froude is the first to establish reliable laws on resistance to the advance which water opposes to the boats and to predict their stability. In mechanics of the fluids, a number without dimension bears its name: the Number of Froude. He is deceased the May 4th, 1879, with Simonstown, South Africa.
