William Cobbett (March 9th 1763 - June 18th 1835), journalist and British politician .

Wire of a farmer of the Surrey, it spent several years to the the United States (1792 -1800), published various lampoons under the pseudonym of Pierre the Pig Épic ; in 1804 returned to the the United Kingdom, and wrote there a radical newspaper which was often continued.

Elected in 1832 member of the House of Commons, it supported the parliamentary reform. It published a Histoire of the reform in England and Ireland , 1826, and a grammar of the English language, the Maître of English .
