William Christie (musician)
William Christie (born William Lincoln Christie ) is a Clavecin ist and Leader originating in the the United States, born the December 19th 1944 with Buffalo (New York), naturalized French in 1995.
Biography
He studied the history of the Art to Harvard and the Musique with Yale. He had in particular as professors Ralph Kirkpatrick and Kenneth Gilbert.He is established in France in 1971 where he acquires a reputation of specialist in the Baroque music, and more particularly of the French music of this time. He founded in 1979 the formation Flourishing Arts, which he directs always today, specialized together in this repertory (Lully, Rameau, etc) which draws its name from a work of Charpentier. He also taught with the Conservatoire higher national of music and dance of Paris.
