William Caxton (v. 1422 in the County of Kent - v. 1491) English printer.

After having remained some time in Holland, and to have made the trade there successfully, it learned how art there to print, and in England towards 1472 introduced it.

It published in 1474 its first book, the Jeu of failures moralized (in English). It gave in 1481 the Miroir of the World , with engravings.

In 1484, it published an English translation of the Livre for the teaching of his/her daughters of Geoffroy of the Turn-Landry.

Its editions are extremely required Bibliophile S.
