William Alwyn

William Alwyn is a type-setter British, born the November 7th 1905 with Northampton, and deceased the September 12th 1985 with Southwold (the United Kingdom).

Biography

William Alwyn was born with Northampton where it very early began its musical studies with the Piccolo. At fifteen years it integrates off the Royal Academy Music of London where it studies the Flûte and the composition. Flutist virtuoso he was initially flutist solo with the London Symphony Orchestra.

Alwyn was also professor of composition to the Royal Academy of 1926 with 1955. Let us note besides among its pupils, the English type-setter Geoffrey Grey.

William Alwyn was a remarkable man He was at the same time Polyglotte, Poète, and Artiste as well as musician.

Its work is important by its diversity including/understanding five symphonies, four operas, several concerti and string quartets.

Alwyn wrote some 70 film musics between 1941 and 1962. Its film musics on a traditional topic relate to following films: Odd Man Out , Serves Victory , Fires Were Started , The History off Mr. Polly , The Fallen Idol and The Black Tent .

Alwyn was a romantic type-setter of a single kind.

The concerto for Toothing-stone and string orchestra of Alwyn Lyra Angelica became popular when it was used by famous the skater Michelle Kwan like musical support at the time of its performance to the Winter Olympics of 1998.

William Alwyn lived with Larkrise , Dunwich Road, Blythburgh, in Suffolk and died out with Southwold, in Suffolk, in 1985.

William Alwyn was married in second weddings with the compositrice Doreen Carwithen.
