William Allingham (March 19th 1824 or 1828 - November 18th 1889) is an Irish writer.

He was born with Ballyshannon in told Donegal. He was the son of the manager of a local bank, descendant of an English family. He obtained a station in the center of the Douane S of his birthplace and had then several similar pals in Ireland and England until 1870, date on which he withdrew himself to become editor of the Fraser' S Magazine that he published of 1874 to 1879, following James Froude. He published a volume of poems in 1850 follow-up by Day and Night Songs in 1855. Allingham was friendly with Dante Gabriel Rossetti which contributed to the illustration of these songs. Its letters in Allingham (1854-1870) was published by Dr. Birkbeck Hill in 1897. Lawrence Bloomfield in Irleand , its most ambitious work, a narrative poem on the social problems of Ireland is appeared in 1864. It also published The Balad Book in 1864.

Allingham Maria in 1874 with Helen Paterson, which became a famous painter. He died in Hampstead.
