In 1946, Jijé, in addition to Will, point of disjunction at his place Morris and Franquin, two young authors still little known but whose Gillain had known to detect the strong potential. Charles Dupuis, while having refused several projects to him, entrusts to him the destinies of the series Tif and Tondu , which it animates until 1990 at the sides of Fernand Dineur, Maurice Rosy, Maurice Tillieux and Stephen Desberg. In addition to its work on this series, it helps Franquin (decorations of the pirates of silence ), Peyo (decorations of Benoît Brisefer and drawing of Jacky and Célestin ). It also occupies of the stations of person in charge: artistic director of the Tintin newspaper of 1958 to 1960 and director of the collection Carousel at Dupuis of 1966 to 1969.
But it does not make only take again existing series: in 1962 it launches Eric and Artimon (with Vicq with the scenario) and in 1970 Isabelle (Franquin and Yvan Delporte with the texts).
From 1989, it changes register, turning to a drawing where the color plays an importance increasingly large and ceasing drawing only for the children. It thus produces for the Free collection Aire the garden of the desires and the 27e letter with Stephen Desberg. He dies in 2000 without to have finished the two spring old tree (scenario of Rudi Miel).
