Wilhelm Carl Werner Otto Fritz Franz Wien (January 13rd 1864 with Fischhausen then in Eastern Prussia, now Primorsk () in Russia (enclave of Kaliningrad) - August 30th 1928 with Munich) was a German physicist. He accepted in 1911 the Nobel Prize of physics for “ His discoveries on the laws of radiation of heat ”.
He made his studies with the college of Heidelberg and, as from 1882, with the Université of Göttingen then of Berlin. Starting from 1883, it prepares its thesis under the direction of Hermann von Helmholtz and obtains its doctorate in 1886.
It published in 1896 the Loi of Wien, which specifies the spectral distribution of the radiation of the black Corps for the short wavelengths. Lord Rayleigh will determine with James Jeans a formula complementary - the Loi of Rayleigh-Jean - opening one and the other the way to max Planck.
