Wilhelm Rollmann

Wilhelm Rollmann born the August 5th 1907 with Wilhelmshaven and dead the November 5th 1943 in the Atlantic of the south, in the south-west of the island Rise. He is a hero of the German navy and commanders of Sous-marin U-Boot during the Second world war.

He was ordering U-34 and U-848. On eight patrols in the North Sea, U-34, ran 23 identified ships, for a tonnage of 98.927 tons (including the destroyer British HMS Whirlwind of 1100 tons, the British submarine HMS Spearfish and the Norwegian ship of mine Fröya of 595 tons). On the whole, 5.710 tons of material and of ships were brought back like spoils of war.

Biography

Wilhelm Rollmann engages in 1926 in the navy, and after its formation in the infantry with Stralsund, it follows a training of sailor on the sailing ship school Niobe and the cruiser Emden . After a round the world tour, passing by the Africa, Eastern Asia, Kokos-Inseln, the Japan, the the United States, the South America, the Central America, and the the Azores, it finishes its training of sailor.

In 1930, it follows a training of warrant officer on the Linership Hesse , before becoming agent in a company with Stralsund. After some courses of radio, it becomes in 1931 Divisionsleutnant then Funktechischer on the cruiser Karlsruhe , officer-artillerist, in the Flak (DCA) ( Flak-Artillery-Offizier ).

In 1933 it takes the command of the light Croiseur Karlsruhe , and then of the linership the Schleswig-Holstein . After an interruption in its career between 1935 - 1936 as specialist attache-soldier with the embassy in London, it follows advanced courses to take the command of the U-34.

In 1938 he is commander on the standard Unterseeboot VII has U-34, and quickly becomes a hero by his fighting experiment, and its prowesses, sliding ring of many civil and military ships.

It will take, in Bremen, the command of the U-848, submarine of standard Unterseeboot IX minor road 2, and disappears with all its crew the November 5th 1943, in the South Atlantic, under the fire of American planes.
