Wilfried Martens is a Belgian Politician Flemish of tendency democratic Christian woman, member of CD&V (ex CVP, Flemish democratic Christians). It was born the April 19th 1936 with Sleidinge. It was Prime Minister between 1979 and 1992, except for one eight month period in 1981. It was called “Wilfried the Obvious one”. He became Prime Minister without to have assumed of ministerial load before. He led to the beginning of the Années 1980 a liberal policy, with the head of a coalition social-Christian-liberals. He also obtained a certain pacification in the linguistic file by concretizing the existence of the Walloon region and the Flemish Région in 1980 and leaving the problem of the creation of the Région of Brussels-Capital to the refrigerator. Since the May 10th 1990, he is the president of the European Popular party, left of which he is one of the founders. The king Baudouin I {{er}} granted to him in 1992 the honorary title of Minister of state.
He sat during the 47e legislature of the Room of the Representatives of Belgium.
