Wild Camp-site

The wild camp-site is a form of Camping practiced in full nature, in a place little or not arranged. It is not rare to see dry toilets close to the arranged places. The privileged refuge is generally a tent or a tax haven. The wild camp-site lies easily within the scope of a Randonnée in forest, Cyclotourisme or of Boat-camp-site.

Legislations

Within the framework of a more general right of access to natural spaces, certain countries admit the right to camp in natural spaces, without prior approval of the owner. In Sweden, it is the Allemansrätt - old common law protected by the Constitution since 1994 - which lays down the methods of the right-of-way and of stay on the grounds of others.

In France

It is interdict to camp:

  • in wood, forests and parks classified,

  • on the roads and public highways,
  • on the shores of the sea,
  • in a radius of 200 m around a water point collected for consumption.
  • in a classified site or registered voter in the protection zones of the inheritance of nature and the sites,
  • with less than 500 m of a classified or registered historic building,
  • in certain zones determined by the municipal authorities or prefectoral.

Lawful panels are affixed at the usual access points of the closed areas. Any parking of more than three months per annum, except usable airfields, must be authorized by the mayor, the authorization is given for three years maximum. It is allowed to camp on the public domain everywhere where it is not prohibited.

The Council
