Wikio
Wikio is a Search engine of topicality created by Pierre Chappaz, founder of the price gauge Kelkoo. The service was officially launched the June 19th 2006, before it was in a phase of development in which took part more: 27000 beta-testers. At present, it is always in beta release.
With the difference of the existing search engines of current events such Google Current events or Yahoo Current events, Wikio seeks the topicality at the same time in the sites of press but also in the blogs (with the manner of the site Imooty). The selected blogs are selected according to the quality of the contents published. This method makes it possible Wikio to assert more: 20000 sources in French and more: 32000 in English.
Another characteristic of Wikio is that it makes it possible to the Net surfers to vote for the articles which they appreciated, which influences the classification of the articles directly, the most popular articles are best classified. The reader has also the possibility of leaving comments or of publishing articles.
Wikio is based on the multilingual semantic tracking technology developed by the company Sinequa.
Wikio was open recently also to the United States, in Germany, in Italy and Spain.
