Wieringermeer
Wieringermeer is a common and a Polder located in the province of the septentrional Holland. The surface of the commune is of 309,37 km ² including 102,70 km ² of water.
It is consisted of the cities, villages and/or districts of Kreileroord, Middenmeer, Slootdorp, Wieringerwerf.
History
The “Wieringmeerpolder” is a recent Polder. The building work began in 1927. In the beginning, this polder was to be created after the construction of the dam Afsluitdijk. The arable lack of land accelerated its construction. It was necessary to set up more robust dams in the Zuiderzee and not in the fresh water lake IJsselmeer which was formed after the construction of Afsluitdijk. The final draining of the polder was completed on August 21st 1930.
Ground at summer usable starting from 1934. Four villages were built (Slootdorp (1931), Middenmeer (1933), Wieringerwerf (1936) and Kreileroord (1957)). The common one was formed the 1e July 1941. It is located on the site of a lake which existed with the Middle Ages. The name of the commune meaning Polder Wieringen .
At the end of the occupation Nazi E, on April 17th 1945 a German officer ordered the mining of the dam. That involved the flood of the polder and the destruction of the infrastructures which had been built. The population had been prevented, it did not have no victim there. The polder was again drained at the end of 1945. The water which had invaded the polder being fresh water, it was not necessary of désaliniser the ground.
