The Whitecaps of Vancouver or, in English Whitecaps F.C. , is a professional club of Football (soccer) based with Vancouver with the Canada (in the province of the Colombia-British). They currently evolve/move in the First division of the USL.

They also align a female team, the Vancouver Whitecaps Women , which plays in W-League (the female championship of USL).

The Whitecaps bear the name of an old club of the North American Soccer League.

History

  • 1986 : creation of the Vancouver 86ers . Those take part then in the late championship of the Canadian Soccer League. The team gains 4 consecutive titles, of 1988 to 1991.

  • 1993: after the end of the Canadian championship, Vancouver joined a new competition, the American Professional Soccer League. This one knew then several names, A-League then currently United Soccer Leagues
  • 2001: the club changes name and becomes the Vancouver Whitecaps
