White of Namur

Oldest daughter of Jean I {{er}} of Namur and Marie d' Artois, Blanche of Namur was born towards 1316. She passed her childhood to the castle of Wynendaele, residence of the comtale family of Flanders, where she accepted a royal education, just like her mother, relationship of king de France.

It is told that Magnus IV Eriksson, king de Suède and of Norway, was allured by the beauty of the young princess, whereas it travelled for France in search of a prestigious wife. The princess embarked for Scandinavia in August 1335 and was to never re-examine banks of the Meuse.

The June 24th 1336, with Stockholm, Blanche was crowned queen of Norway, Sweden and Scanie. The following year, it gave rise to a son: Erik.

The reign of the two husbands, influenced by Holy Brigitte, was animated enough by the bad economic management and soldier of the kingdom. Erik détrôna his/her father to make return Sweden in a war against the Denmark, but he died in mysterious circumstances which well quickly returned the kingdom in Magnus Eriksson.

White its taste for art developed, inviting at its court poets and artists.

It is always very popular in Sweden, where one grants the introduction of the French culture to him. A famous Swedish lullaby “ Rida Ranka ” is dedicated to him.

She died in 1363, taken care by her second wire, Haakon, future king de Norvège.
