Origin and geographical distribution
The type of vine is of French origin of Haute-Savoie. It is not the white form of the black mondeuse
.
Classified recommended in Savoy, Haute-Savoie and in the Ain, it belongs to the Encépagement of AOC Vins of Savoy and of VDQS Bugey. The mondeuse white one is slightly cultivated. In 1999, the surface planted was of 5 hectares.
Recent genetic searchs for 1998 made it possible to identify with certainty, that the Syrah comes from the septentrional part of the Côtes of the Rhone and that it is a natural crossing of Dureza X Mondeuse white.

Farming aptitudes
Maturity is of second average time: 20 days after the chasselas.
Technological potential
The bunches are average and the bays are of intermediate size. The bunch is cylindrical, ailéeet compact. The type of vine is fairly vigorous. It produces white wines of quality and long guard thanks to a rate of rather high acidity. It can easily preserve 20 - 30 years
