White Génépi
The white génépi ( Artemisia umbelliformis ) is an aromatic plant of the required family of the Astéracées for the manufacture of liquors.
Synonyms:
- Artemisia laxa (Lam.) Fritsch
- Cheap Artemisia mutellina .
Description
- Form: Stem S from 5 to 20 cm in height, entirely hairy and silky, with stocks emitting of the rivet washers of white Sheet S and luisantes.
- Sheets: petiolate, deeply divided into 3 to 5 principal segments, whole or generally finished into 2 to 3 narrow thin straps.
- Flowers: yellowish flowerheads comprising from 10 to 20 Fleur S, pédonculées and forming a Bunch drawn up coward occupying half of the stem almost. Certain species comprise 25 to 50 flowers by capitulates.

From July to September.
Habitat
Rocks and fall between 2000 and 3700 Mr. the génépi division often his habitat with the Edelweiss (although the latter has a preference for the silicieux grounds).

In Italy, the gathering is prohibited.
- In France, it is allowed to collect a handle of génépi by anybody (that is to say approximately 40 bits)
Liquor
For a bottle of one liter it is advised to use 40 bits, 40 pieces of sugar and to forget the bottle at least 40 days.
The significant amount of sugar is partly used to neutralize the bitterness of the chlorophyl which passes in the beverage when the bits remain too a long time. For those which prefer less liqueur-like alcohols, one can be satisfied to leave two to three weeks about thirty bits in alcohol for fruit with 40°, before withdrawing them.
Another receipt:
For 2 liters of consumable alcohol!
1 liter of pure alcohol: there to make soak 40 to 60 bits of Génépi (after having made it dry safe from the light a few days). to leave the génépi in alcohol at least 2 months.
Then, to prepare a syrup with: 1 liter of with carried has boiling then to pour there 350 grams of caster sugar.
To leave fire and to mix sugar with water to obtain a homogeneous syrup.
To let syrup cool completely.
To filter the génépi with Chinese by mixing it with syrup.
To bottle! To consume with moderation.
