Whilce Portacio

Whilce Portacio is a draftsman of Comic S Filipino born the July 8th 1963.

Biography

It began in 1985 at Marvel Comics by encrant the series Alien Legion , then the mini-series Longshot written by Ann Nocenti and drawn by Arthur Adams, then some episodes of the Uncanny X-Men .

Thereafter, one entrusted to him the drawings of Punisher ( Punisher #8-20 ) which pointed out it. It continued on Factor-X for the numbers which follow X-Tinction Agenda ( X-Factor #63-69 ) and passed then on Uncanny X-Men ( UXM #281-287 ) following Saga of the island of Muir. Indeed, the X-Men titles underwent deep change at that time, with the creation of the series X-Men , the regrouping of X-Men of first and second generations within the teams Bleu and Gold, and of the completely different characters in Factor-X .

In 1992 Whilce left Marvel Comics and united with 6 other artists (Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri, Rob Liefeld, Erik Larsen, Todd McFarlane and Jim Valentino) to form the company Image Comics. Following problems personnales, it however left quickly its responsibilities for editor to devote itself to the drawing, and created well after his comrades, in 1994, the series WetWorks under the label of Jim Lee, Wildstorm.

Thereafter, it just like returned the time of some episodes at Marvel of other artists of Image time to launch the event Heroes Reborn. Whilce then drew some episodes of the new series Iron Man.

There will remain inactive some time (It is for this idle period that he discovered another Filipino talent, Jay Anacleto) before being invested in the Avalon Studio, Co-founded with Brian Haberlin. It will realize there between the 1998 and 2000 mini-series in four numbers Stone: The Awakening then first episodes of the regular series Stone .

In 2000 it will turn over to Marvel at the time of a rehandling of the secondary titles related to X-Men supervised by Warren Ellis. He will work on the series X-Force (starting from the #102 and until the 109, with a pause to the 107), which puts in scene a new team whose adventures are scénarisées by Ellis.

In 2003, of return to Wildstorm, it will launch the series StormWatch: TEAM Achilles , scenarized by Micah Ian Wright. It since carried out some episodes, like Coup d'etat: The Authority and The Authority vol. 2 # 14, while preparing the return of WetWorks in 2006 with the scenario writer Mike Carey.
