Wheeler Peak is the second plus high summit of the state of the Nevada, with the the United States. It is also highest entirely located in the state. It is located in the Snake Range , within the National park of the Large Basin, close to the border with the Utah. It received its name in homage to the explorer and cartographer George Montague Wheeler, leader of Wheeler forwarding at the end of the XIXe century. Its altitude is of 3982 meters.

It is accessible by a good path in 3:00 approximately for a good walker, since the well covered road which curves until an altitude of 3000 Mr. On the way, in the middle of the pines and of the vast meadows, one can see very many deer tribe.

At the top one enjoys an immense sight on the area, rather desert. The mountainous solid mass of Great Basin attracts the eye of the traveller because it seems to leave ground in the middle of a vast agricultural plain, a such failed ship. Indeed, it occupies a rather low surface, well off any mountainous large chain the such Sierra Nevada in the west or the Rocky Mountains in the east.
