Westlife

Westlife is a pop group Irish created in 1998. The group is an enormous success in Ireland and with the the United Kingdom, but also a little everywhere in Europe, in Asia, Australia and Africa.

The group took down thirteen numbers one in the United Kingdom between 1999 and 2005; only Elvis Presley, Beatles and Cliff Richard did better. Westlife is the only group in the history of the British charts to being entered number one with their the first seven individual. It is also the only group to have gained four times the very coveted price of the " disc of the année" in the United Kingdom. Westlife sold nearly 40 million albums in the whole world and have seven platinum albums.

History

Beginnings

The Westlife group is born at the month from July 1998 under the name of Westside, when Shane Filan, Kian Egan and Mark Feehily, originating in Sligo in the North-West in Ireland and then members of a group called IOU, auditions Nicky Byrne and Brian McFadden in Dublin. They are managed by Louis Walsh, which dealt already with the largest servant boy Irish band of the years 1990, Boyzone. In 1998, the five boys ensure the first part of the concert of the Backstreet Boys Dublin, and are then signed by Simon Cowell and BMG. Ronan Keating, leader of Boyzone, joined the team as a Co-manager.

In 1999, Westside changes name and is called from now on Westlife. The group leaves its very first individual, " Swear It Again" , which enters directly in first place of the British charts. " Yew I Let You Go" , in " and August; Flying Without Wings" , in November, follow the same way. Their first album, " Westlife" , leaves in the tread and reaches the second place of the hit albums. Westlife becomes the very first number one of the millenium when their individual double I Cuts has Dream/Seasons in the Sun beats the individual one of Christmas de Cliff Richards with the head of the hits British parades.

Success

Always at the top of the hits in their country and to the United Kingdom, the five boys from there will promote their album with the four corners of the world, of Brazil in Japan while passing by the United States. In September 2000, they leave a duet with Mariah Carey, a resumption of Phil Collins, " Against All Odds". For the exit of their second album, " Coast to Coast" , they will beat the record of the greatest number of cities visited in 48 hours. In 2001, they sign the song headlight of Red Nose Day British, Uptown Girl, and turn a clip with Claudia Schiffer. It is also the year of their very first round, and the exit of their third album, " World off our Own" they sign them-even to it half of the titles.

In 2002, when the group announces the exit of its first Greatest Hits, the rumors fuse on an imminent separation. It of it is however nothing, and Westlife leaves in 2003 its fourth album, Turnaround, from which the tubes " result; Hey Whatever" , " Mandy" and " Obvious".

In the month of October 2005, Westlife left their seventh album, " Face to Face". First the individual resulting one from this album, " You Raise Me Up" , is today their individual best sold. The four boys recorded a duet with Diana Ross, " When You Such me That You Coils Me" , number two in the United Kingdom with Christmas 2005. Face To Face also reached the first place of the Australian hits, and it group is currently in full round in Ireland and in the United Kingdom.

Bye Bye Bryan

March 9th, 2004, Bryan McFadden announces that it decided to leave the group in order to devote more time to its small family. This news worries the fans: indeed, few pop groups survive at the beginning of one the their my more known members (Spice Girls, Take That destiny' S child…). But the four members remaining swear to prove with their detractors whom they have wrong and ensure that they are still there for a good end of time.

Less than one month after the departure of Bryan, Westlife goes up on scene for a fourth round with closed counters. At the end of 2004, they leave an album swing in homage to famous the Rat Pack, " Allow Custom To Be Frank" , which is classified, him also, at the top of the hit-parades. The group becomes also the very first official number one of the hit-parade of the remote loadings in the United Kingdom with an acoustic version of Flying Without Wings.

Bryan will start a career solo a little later and will change the orthography of its name to take again the original one, Bryan thus becomes again Brian McFadden. Its first album is entitled Irish Its .

Today

The new album entitled " Back Home" on November 5th, 2007 will leave. The first individual one, " Home" , resumption of Michael Bublé, will leave on October 29th, 2007. The clip, turned to Los Angeles, was revealed in October.

Good with knowing

All the members of Westlife are also composer-songwriters. Kian and Bryan play of the piano and the guitar since their more young age.

Bryan Mac Fadden, which has, since its departure, taken again the original orthography of its first name (Brian), left in September 2004 its first individual, " Real to Me" , number one of the hits in the United Kingdom, and a first album. After his separation of with Kerry Katona, ex-member of the group Atomic Kitten, with which it had two children, it lives today with Delta Goodrem, Australian singer.

All the members of Westlife knew perfectly to juggle public life and private life. In the month of August 2003, Nicky Byrne married Georgina Ahern, girl of Irish the Prime Minister Bertie Ahern, with whom it had twins (Rocco Bartholomew and Jay Nicholas) on April 20th, 2007. Shane Filan married Gillian Walsh on December 28th, 2003, and they had a fore-mentioned little girl Nicole in the month of July 2005. Kian Egan lives with Jodie Albert, actress of soap British, and Feehily Mark, which recently announced its homosexuality, leaves with Kevin Mc Daid, member of the pop group V.

If Westlife is not yet truly known with the United States, their song fetish, " Flying Without Wings" , is very known there, because it was taken again by gaining American Idol Ruben Studdard. In 2003, within the framework of documentary for British television, the group went to record in Nashville a resumption of the famous singer country Kenny Rogers " Daytime Friends and Nighttime Lovers", a version which was worth many compliments to them.
