The Westerwoldse Aa (in Low-Saxon Westerwoldse Oa ) is an old woman Rivière Dutchwoman of the North-East of the province of Groningue.
The river is born from the Confluent of the Ruiten-Aa and Mussel-Aa close to the village to Wessinghuizen. The river runs towards north, and is thrown in bay of the Dollard (which forms the mouth Ems), close to Nieuwe Statenzijl. The septentrional part of the course constitutes the border between the Germany and the Netherlands. The valley of Westerwoldse Aa, with that of the Ruiten-Aa is very broad; it forms the reads historical of Ems.
With the the Middle Ages, the lower course of the river was called Reider Ee . This Reider Ee, tributary direct of the Ems, was located in the Reiderland and crossed current the Dollard.
