--> The Western Mayo-Kebbi is one of the 18 areas of the Chad (Decrees N° 415/PR/MAT/02 and 419/PR/MAT/02) whose chief town is Pala. It corresponds to part of the old prefecture of Mayo-Kebbi (sub-prefectures of Pala and Léré).

The population of the area was of 324.910 inhabitants in 1993 (RGPH).

The principal ethnico-linguistics groups are the Moundang, Peuls, Ngambay.
