The history of West Rutland is to be correlated with that of Rutland, the close city. Indeed, West Rutland was created by the companies being located at Rutland because the marble careers, which made the richness of the area, were there.When the careers were closed, the city lost all its economic attractivity. At this point in time arrived of the avid artists of beautiful landscapes and the families which wished a semi-rural life.
