The West Lothian ( Lodainn year Iar in Gaelic) is one of 32 administrative divisions of the Scotland. West Lothian has as borders the town of Edinburgh in the east, the Scottish Borders and the South Lanarkshire in the south, the North Lanarkshire and Falkirk in the west.

West Lothian was formerly a county of Scotland and was sometimes called English name of Linlithgowshire , drawn from the name of the principal city.

Of a surface of 427 km ², West Lothian is the 20th administrative division by its size, and 10th by its population. Two elected officials represent West Lothian at the Parliament of Westminster (Michael Connarty and Jim Devine). West Lothian is also represented with the Scottish Parlement by three elected officials. The party places from there in this district is the Workers party.
