West Beirut (film)

West Beirut is a Norwegian Film , Belgian, Lebanon board and French carried out by Ziad Doueiri and left in 1998.

Synopsis

In April 1975, the civil war bursts. The capital of the Lebanon, Beirut, is divided into two, Beirut-Is for the Christians, and Beirut-West ( West Beirut in English, from where the title) for the Moslems. Tarek, a young Moslem, wants to carry out a film with its Super 8 and its friend Omar. At the beginning of the war, the school is closed. His/her mother wants to flee the city but his/her father refuses. Tarek spends its time with May, a young Christian woman. By accident, Tarek is found at legendary Oum Walid, which holds a Bordel.

Prices Obtained

This film obtained the Prix François Chalais with the About fifteen the realizers of the Cannes festival in 1998.
