Werner Hoffmann

Werner Hoffmann (born on August 8th, 1928) is an Austrian historian of Article.

It directed the museum of the 20th century to Vienna (of 1962 to 1969) then the Kunsthalle of Hamburg (of 1969 to 1990) from which he is honorary director today. It is in this establishment that it organized a famous cycle of nine exposures on art around 1800.

At the theoretical level, it had a great influence on the history of the art of second half of the 20th century by the initiation of the concept of " polyfocalité".
