The Wendes are Slavic people ancient. The German ones name Wenden the Serb white of Lusace or Serbia Blanche ( Wenden is a Celtic term meaning “fair”, Cognat of Vénètes ). The German ones thought that the Serb ones were Celts and as they were in great majority fair, they called them thus.

Thereafter wenden indicated all the Slavic German tribes. It is also the name given to the Middle Ages by the German S with all the people Slaves established on the territory delimited by the Oder, the Spree, the Saale and the Erzgebirge.

Wendes of low the Elba and the Baltique coast were Polabe S and Orodrite S, those of the Slovenien south-east of the S and those of higher Elba of the Sorabe S or Serbes White.

The Slavic ones are known since II but their name of Slavic , would date from the 5th century when the Byzantine , and through them the Westerners, started to enter in relation to them.
