Wendell Young

Wendell Young (born the 1963 with Halifax in Nova Scotia) is a former Canadian player professional of Hockey.

Career in club

Wendell was selected with the Repêchage of entry in the LNH 1981 in fourth round by the Canucks of Vancouver but it did not start to play immediately in the great league. It continued to play for the junior team of the Rangers of Kitchener in the league of hockey of Ontario then passed in various teams of the international Ligue of hockey] then of the American Ligue of hockey. He played its first match in the National league of hockey in 1985-86 and played 22 matches during this season. August 28th, 1987, Canucks exchange it with Kimbi Daniels against Darren Jensen and Daryl Stanley of the Flyers of Philadelphia. He will not play much for Flyers during the Saison LNH 1987-88 and will take the direction of the Penguins de Pittsburgh in exchange of Chris Therien. He then gains as a lining of Tom Barrasso the Coupe Stanley twice (1991 and 1992).

Before the Fishing out of expansion LNH 1992, it is left free by Penguins and is fished out by the Lightning de Tampa Bay. It will briefly turn over to Pittsburgh during the Saison LNH 1994-95 but will be left once again free by Penguins at the end of the season.

It will finish its career of player by signing for the team of Chicago of hockey of the international league the Wolves of Chicago for which it will play six seasons before announcing its retirement on August 21st, 2001.

Since 2004-05, he is assistant trainer of the team.

Wendell is the only player of the history of hockey to have to gain 4 different Cuts:

Moreover it gained twice with the team of Rangers de Kitchener the championship of the league of hockey of Ontario (OHL) in 1981 and 1982.
