First Wembley

New Wembley

The new enclosure of Wembley is designed to accommodate 90.000 spectators under optimal conditions of comfort and safety. After a delay of almost one year and a cost of 1,5 Billion euros, the handing-over of the keys is made in March 2007, so that the final of F Cup 2007 could be held in Wembley. In spite of these delays and the goings beyond of budgets, new Wembley is one of the showpieces of the organization of the Olympic Games of summer of 2012.

A 133 meters height arch overhangs the stage.

The March 24th 2007, the new enclosure of Wembley accommodated a friendly match between the English and Italian hopes, match which was completed 3-3 with a triplet of Gianpaolo Pazzini for Italy, opening the ball after only 29 seconds of play, in front of 55.700 spectators.

The official unveiling of new Wembley is made the May 19th 2007 at the time of the final of the cut of England of football. The final opposed Manchester United to Chelsea.

The national team of England carried out its first match in the new sporting enclosure, the June 1st 2007, at the end of a friendly meeting disputed against the national team of Brazil (final score 1-1).

The July 7th 2007 (7/7/07), the Live Earth stopped with London for a concert bringing together 23 singers, singers and groups. The concert is done in this stage. Madonna, The Black Eyed Peas, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Genesis, Metallica and several others will occur during this day.

On June 9th and 10th 2007, George Michael gives the first two concerts in the new stage of Wembley by bringing together 230.000 people. The 16 and the June 17th 2007, MUSE occurred in this stage for an enormous concert. It is the first group to have made a concert there. It took place in front of 180.000 people with a setting in exceptional scene.
