Well-formed XML document
A " well-formed" XML document (well formed document XML) is a document XML which has a correct syntax XML. According to W3C, that means:
- documents XML must have an element root;
- elements XML must have a beacon of closing;
- the beacons are " put sensitive" ;
- elements XML must be positioned correctly;
- the values of attribute XML must always be between quotation marks.
One should not confuse the well-formed document and the Valid XML document, which is defined as a " well-formed" XML document which also conforms to the rules of a Document type definition (DTD) or of a XML Schema (XSD), that W3C regards as an alternative to DTD.
