-
Being There is also the title of an album of the American rock group Wilco.
Synopsis
Washington, cd., the Seventies. A fore-mentioned gardener quinquagénaire Chance, man naive and simple, runs a life without clashes to take care of the garden of a calm property preserved in a district “at the risks” of the capital. He lives almost withdrawn of the world, never leaves, is never assembled in a car and its only distraction is the television, which he contemplates with assiduity and fascination.Obliged to leave this house and this activity following the death of its employer, Chance is run up against, in the street, by a vehicle whose owner, Eve Rand, accommodate it in his residence to make him lavish care. Chance binds with Benjamin Rand, the husband, who, a little later receives the visit of the president of the the United States. Chance takes share with maintenance and this with such a naturalness that its sentences, distilled like proverbs of wisdom but, actually, directed “gardening”, will be taken for true oracles; it thus will become the whooping-cough of the capacity and the media.
