Weekly Shōnen Jump

Weekly Shōnen Jump (週刊少年ジャンプ, Shūkan Shōnen Janpu ), frequently shortened in Shōnen Jump, is a weekly magazine of publication of mangas to the Japan. Special monthly editions are carried out for the United States and Europe.

History

Weekly Shōnen Jump is intended to the young boys (what is the direction of " Shōnen "). Its contents are directed action/venture, with stories frequently putting in scene young boys equipped with super-capacities or of extraordinary capacities.

Weekly Shōnen Jump was launched by Shūeisha in 1968, to compete with popular the Weekly Shōnen Magazine, published by the Kōdansha, and Shōnen Sunday. The magazine gave place to the creation of several video games: 2 plays Jump BORN for its birthday and JUMP SUPER STARS and JUMP ULTIMATE STARS on Nintendo DS.

In 2005, Weekly Shonen Jump is more diffused magazines of manga and draws to 3 million specimens, the American version drawing 350.000 sold specimens for 150.000.

Apart from Japan

Contrary to the Japanese version, Jump published abroad are monthly.

The United States

Created in 2002 in collaboration with Viz Media, the American version left for the first time in January 2003 and was instantaneously the magazine of band-drawn more sold moment in the country.

The list of the titles appearing in this version includes Yu-Gi-Oh! , Yû yû hakusho , One Part , Naruto , Shaman king and Sand Land . In the number of January 2004, Sand Land arrived at its conclusion and was replaced by Hikaru No Go . Dragon Ball was stopped in the month of April 2005, to be concluded in August 2006 by a final chapter.

Germany

Shōnen Jump is published in Germany in the shape of a magazine of anthology named BANZAI! , created by Carlsen Verlag. BANZAI! publish Hikaru No Go , Hakuchi One , Naruto , I" S , Hunter × Hunter and Shaman king . Several other cars, such as Yu-Gi-Oh! , Halloweens , Dr. Slump , One Part , Neko Majin , Sand Land , Neko Majin Z , DNA ² were published in BANZAI! , as well as a German “manga”, Crewman3.

Sweden

This version contains Yu-Gi-Oh! , Sand Land , Naruto , Shaman King and Rurouni Kenshin .

Norway

The Norwegian edition of Shōnen Jump is published by “Schibsted Forlagene”. The first number is appeared in March 2005, containing the same series as its Swedish counterpart.
