Week of the British cinema of Abbeville
The Semaine of the British cinema of Abbeville is a festival of Cinéma dedicated to British films created in 1995 by Raymond Défossé. The 11th edition of this go very appreciated film enthusiasts is all in all held of the 6 to the January 16th 2005.
Edition 2005
The program begin with a homage to the pioneers from the British cinema from the school from Brighton with silent films from George Albert Smith and James Williamson, in particular as of the January 6th.Among ten feature-length films of the official selection, let us quote “I' L sleep when I' m Dead” of Mike Hodges (the law of the medium) or the documentary one of Alex Cooker “Arnold with the conquest of the West” on the electoral campaign with the mandate of governor of California of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The festival also proposes a homage to the work of the British writer Graham Greene: “The third man”, “the gang of the killers”, “end of a connection”, “a quite quiet American”.
Moreover, two films coming from the files of the Imperial War Museum: “The battle of the Sum” and “the battle of the Anchor” of the cinematographic service of the British army in 1916 - 1917.
All in all, it is about fifty films which are presented to the festival ones.
The short films are not forgotten. One thus projects cartoon films of Trévor Hardy, a selection of the production of Junk TV, collective of scenario writers of Brighton.
In addition to the Large-Price, “Price Raymond Lefèvre”, a price of the young people, the “Price of the public”, is also decreed.
