Webmin

Webmin is an graphical interface, under License BSD, which makes it possible to manage a waiter Unix or Linux remotely via any Navigateur Web.

Functionalities

Developed in Perl version 5.002 for the last version and in Java, Webmin makes it possible to control the majority of the waiter S software used by the administrators networks (Apache, Postfix, Sendmail, ftp, Mysql, PostgreSQL, Samba, HS, BIND, etc). It can also manage users (accounts users, management of the quotas, repertories, groups, rights, etc), the files of the actions on the system (files logs), the Cluster S, the filesystems even the stop or the restarting of the waiter.

Installation

It is advised to install it with a package specific to its distribution (Unix or Linux). Thus, the package will install Webmin by taking into account the accounts users installed. Of the first connection, the program requires a password (the root for a total control of the waiter). It is possible to create other Webmin users by indicating the parts which the user will be able to manage since the interface.

Operation

Webmin is a service which launches out to the starting of the waiter and which is accessible via a URI. The user can connect himself to the interface by indicating in URI (URL, Adresse IP, etc) of the waiter the port of the application (by defect 10000). This port can be redefined directly since the interface, just like much of other parameters.

For example: http://www.mondomaine.com:10000 or http://192.168.0.1:10000 .
