WebCore
WebCore is a Framework developed by Apple, and laid off under LGPL, in order to provide a returned Moteur HTML for Mac OS X. It is one of the two primary education components of the framework WebKit (the other being JavaScriptCore).
WebCore combines the engine of returned Open source KHTML developed by the project KDE, with a library of adaptation called KWQ (to pronounce Quack). Apple created adapter KWQ to replace the dependences of the code of KHTML related on Qt and other modules KDE. KWQ also integrates a application program interface (API) Objective-C into the engine of returned KHTML based on C++, which enables him to be referred easily by the applications built with Cocoa.
Apple announced WebCore the January 7th 2003 with the Macworld Expo with the launching of the navigator Web Safari. Later in the course of the day, the developers published their changes with library KHTML with project KDE. Then in June 2005, Apple gave access to their deposit CVS (now, Subversion) of source code and to the Database of bug Bugzilla, its nature previously closed becoming an obstacle to again amalgamate the changes of WebCore in KHTML.
Since, a great number of projects was carried out starting from the WebCore library, while carrying it on others platform S like mobile Nokia or of the libraries GNUstep multi platforms, or by adopting it for the use in their own navigator like OmniWeb the navigator of Omni Group. Epiphany, the navigator of the project GNOME, could also support this engine.
Although the Mac developers can use WebCore to incorporate an engine of returned HTML in their applications, Apple recommends the use of WebKit, which is included by defect since Mac OS X 10.2 .7 and following and for which the interfaces are stable.
