Wearing of Bruges-Zeebruges
The port of Bruges - Zeebruges (in Dutch: haven van Brugge-Zeebrugge ) is located on the littoral of the the North Sea in Belgium. It is the wearing of Bruges.
General
Its main advantages are its geographical position at sea North, with the outlet of the Pas-de-calais and near the England and its deep water accessibility. It has highway, railway and river connections with much of northern country Européen.The work for construction of the port started in 1896 and was completed in 1905.
This port belonged to the ports which experienced fast development in the zone Hamburg - Le Havre, thanks to their proximity with the economic center north-European. It developed a modern infrastructure, developed to face the ships carrier S and with the ships Porte-conteneurs.
Zeebruges is one of the most important European terminals for gas and the imports of Natural gas liquefied.
It is the first port in the world for the transport of the new cars, with in 2006 more than 1.930.000 units. It is a European port for the traffic of rolling not accompanied. There are 13 fixed lines at the beginning of Zeebruges towards 14 ports of the the United Kingdom with up to 20 departures per day, including seven only for London. The other lines are bound for the Scandinavia and the countries of Mediterranean Europe of which the Spain, the Portugal or the Turkey.
Zeebruges has 23 quays for the mooring of the ships of rolling, the full capacity of loading and of unloading is of 3500 trucks every 24 hours, that is to say more than one million per annum.
Pronunciation
As regards the pronunciation: " Zeebruges" , in French, decides like the name of the town of Bruges. On the other hand, " Zeebrugge" decides, in Dutch, like " Brugge" , (Dutch name of this same city): the last syllable decides " roughly; ghe" and not like " je" (the pronoun of the first nobody in French). Confusions are however very frequent on this subject.
