Weak bit of weight

The weak bit of weight (in English Least Significant Bit , or LSB ) is for a binary number the bit having in a given representation the least value (that of right-hand side in the positional representation usual).

Example, for a simple number of conventional binary representation, the LSB is the bit on the right: 0101011 0 .

On the other hand, there is the Bit of strong weight (MSB).

Note that the distinction is sometimes made between lsb writes in small letters for Least Significant Bit , and LSB in capital letters (for English Least Significant Byte ), which then indicates the weak byte of weight in a number made up of several bytes.
