Wayne Andre is a Tromboniste (trombone tenor and bass trombone) and Arrangeur of American Jazz , born the November 17th 1931 with Manchester (Connecticut) and dead the August 26th 2003 with New York.
Wayne Andre begins his career as trombonist of the Big band S of Charlie Spivak, Woody Hermann and of the orchestra coodirigé by Eddie Sauter and Bill Finnegan. In the middle of the Fifties, it forms part as trombonist and arranger of the Kai Winding septet. In the Sixties, he is member of the first Gerry Mulligan 'S Concert Band Jazz, of the Thad Jones - Mel Lewis Orchestra and of the big band of Clark Terry. It takes part, in 1962, with the round of Benny Goodman in the USSR.
At the end of the Sixties, it settles to carry out an intense career of musician of studio (pop, variety, rock'n'roll,….) for label like the Columbia or A&M. One can then intend it to accompany by the musicians as different as Liza Minnelli, Astrud Gilberto, Patti Austin, Alice Cooper and of the groups like Manhattan Transfer or Steely daN. In the Seventies, it belongs to the " staff" label CTI of Creed Taylor and takes part in sessions of Emir Deodato, George Benson, Freddie Hubbard, Bob James,… As jazzman one can also hear it with Art Farmer, Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell, Lynn Welshman, Mingus Big Band, Epitaph Band and like member of the " Word off mouth" of Jaco Pastorius. It also occurs with its clean quintets and septets.
In addition to its activity of musician of studion Wayne Andre also had an intense career of arranger and type-setter. He composed, for example, “The Rise and Fall off Coils”, a part concerting for trombone and symphony orchestra.
