Way of fighting (sport of combat)
“A leopard cannot change its spots” - Horace, Epistles, I, X, 24.
Manner of making clean with each individual and that one can report for some to classes of “behavior-type”, more exactly one says to certain “styles” (not to be confused with the esthetic characters which a combatant in the action can express). It is specific to the athlete, with his temperament, with its physical potential or with what was taught to him by its school of sport of combat.
In sports of opposition in particular in Sports of combat
One distinguishes: the wait and see of the go-ahead type and the technician of the striker , but this classification does not stop there. One counts various variable characters for each “typology”. For example, at the “technical” styles: boxer in long blows, crushing arguments, blows of against. At the physical styles : to make the sustained pressure , boxer in powerful hooks “with the scull”, to seek the body-with-body , to seek the hard blow . When a combatant uses his usual way of boxer (its usual style), it is said that it is on his “register”; that with the manner of a musician who repeats his preferred ranges. In addition, which is appreciable in a combat it is the opposition of styles. There has as an example the combat of the years 1980, Sugar Ray Leonard against Marvin Hagler. The first, uses a boxing with move back, made broad steps on side, dodgings of precise bust and counter-attack. Whereas the second, uses of a boxing in front progression, of an attitude the bust compacts ahead and of very powerful blows. As for the “designer” in boxing, it appoints the athlete privileging a work technico-tactic with the detriment in other manners of leading and of building the opposition. In manner of teaching, it is important for the trainer to privilege the manner “natural” to make of its foal, to improve it, but also to make practice other ways of behaving, in order to stage in particular in combat with a failure of its personal “style”.
