Wattrelos is a common French, located in the department of the Northern (59) and the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
This commune is divided between the cantons of Roubaix-Is and of Roubaix-North.
Its inhabitants is Wattrelosiens.

History
Geography
Wattrelos is at the Belgian border, to 5 km of Lannoy, 14 km of Lille, 15 km of Menin, 17 km of Courtrai and to 19 km of Tournai. The Canal of Roubaix skirts the south of the commune, it will be reopened with navigation in 2008 (program Blue Links).

Administration
To note: Wattrelos (which is not chief town of canton) is composed of two parts of cantons at the same time: Roubaix-is and Roubaix-North. The voters thus vote in one or the other at the time of the election of their general adviser.

In the economic sector, Wattrelos has many assets to put forward near the investors: accessibilities (two connections open towards Belgium in 2004 to the west and the east of the city), 90 hectares of industrial waste lands to reconquer (Spinning mills of Sartel, Filature Saint-Liévin and Wool of Roubaix whose very great majority of the buildings is actually on the territory of Wattrelos) and of the grounds to arrange in parks of activity in order to supplement the existing offer - in particular the industrial park of Martinoire, where Redoute locateis located, larger employer of the city (more than 2000 paid), which was the first industrial park of the department of North.
These parks of activity, currently under development full, are three: Avelin, Beck and Winhoute.
